SCNATP Seminars

Annual Meeting
SCNATP held their Annual Meeting and Seminar on May 19-20, 2008 at the Radisson Hotel in Columbia.


SCNATP Committees

Bylaws
Jimmie Capps, Chairman

Duties: Will review the state chapter bylaws on an annual basis. They may make recommendations for changes to the State Board of Directors, and if approved by the State Board, forward these changes to National for review and approval. The approved changes will be voted on by the State membership at the Annual Meeting. Once the State members have approved the bylaw changes, they are a permanent part of the State Chapter Bylaws.

Education
Angela Towle & Kelvin Williams, Chairmen

Duties: Plan, promote and conduct educational programs at the state level for the benefit of members.

Nominations
Evelyn Thompson, Chairman

Duties: To conduct all elections, in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order.. They are to determine in advance what method will be used in the case of a tie in each election.

Electronic Media

Duties: To maintain all of the SCNATP informational areas of the World Wide Web site operated by NATP.

Government Relations
Kay Mortimer, Chairman

Duties: Promote political awareness through member involvement in the political process. Maintain constant contact and liaison with elected and appointed officials. Monitor legislation relative to the tax profession and keep the membership informed concerning political issues affecting them. Provide assistance and encouragement to the membership to become involved in the political process.

Membership and Public Relations
Bud Bostick, Chairman

Duties: Promote membership in the National Association of Tax Practitioners and its members to the general public and coordinate all programs designed to further the public's concept of the NATP member (i.e. News releases, press releases, news conferences, etc.. .).

Newsletter
Steven Clem, Chairman

Duties: Produce and distribute a newsletter two times a year. The newsletter should encourage involvement of members in chapter sponsored events, promote technology, education, and governmental issues affecting the tax practice profession. The newsletter will continuously strive to ensure two way communication between the SCNATP and its members.

Professional Standards
Jimmie Capps, Chairman

Duties: Educate members about ethical standards, arbitrate disputes, and follow through on complaints about unethical conduct of members from other members and the public.

Regional
Kay Mortimer, Chairman

Duties: To review the states regions on an annual basis. Any change will be referred to the State Board of Directors, and if approved by the State Board, referred to National for review and approval. The approved changes will be voted on by the State membership at the Annual Meeting. Once the State membership has approved the regional changes, they are a permanent part of the State Chapter Bylaws. Regions are intended to create a strong and unified State Chapter.

SCNATP News

SC NATP normally has Seminars twice a year, one in October and our Annual Meeting which is held usually in May. The seminars provide topics particular to the South Carolina tax practitioner with CPE credits available.


Our State Newsletter is sent out two times a year with a variety of information from editorials, current South Carolina or Federal law changes, seminar registration, services or products useful to our SC NATP members and non-members, to activities enjoyed by the attendees at the National NATP Seminar, etc.
