NATP Chapter Presidents' Meeting
Sunday, July 6
1:30 p.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Ever wonder what those "Heads of State" talk about the day before the Conference begins? This meeting is run by the NATP Chapter Advisory Council (CAC) specifically for Chapter Presidents, but we invite Chapter leaders to listen in to the meeting to gain valuable insight into Chapter issues and strategy.

NATP Chapter Leadership Session
Sunday, July 6
2:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

This is the "must-attend" training event that's open to all Chapter leaders (officers, board members, committee chairs, other volunteers) and those interested in Chapter leadership.  Members rave about this session year after year! That's because it's designed with you in mind to assist with Chapter leadership issues.

    • Discover new ideas, get answers to your questions, and receive valuable training on how to be a more effective Chapter leader.
    • Brainstorm and learn from other professionals who serve in your capacity in other Chapters around the country.
    • Participate in the round-table discussions.
    • Review the NATP Chapter website, including the Leader web board. Learn how to access the information you need from the NATP National Office.  We'll show you how you can connect with other Chapters over the Internet to get answers to your questions and ideas for your newsletters, meetings, and other functions. You'll have "best leadership practices" at your fingertips.

Don't miss this power-packed informational extravaganza and your chance to obtain the "how to" knowledge that you can bring back to your home Chapter!

This session begins with our Annual Meeting, followed by recognition of award recipients, and concluding with our Keynote Speaker, Richard E. Richard E. Byrd Jr. is the current Commissioner of the Wage and Investment Division (W&I) of the IRS. He oversees the administration of tax laws governing individual wage earners in the United States. W&I serves approximately 122 million customers accounting for 94 million tax returns.

Before being named commissioner, Byrd served as the W&I Deputy Commissioner for a year. Prior to that appointment, he was the Director of Field Compliance Services in Atlanta. Previously, Byrd was the special agent in charge, Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, Office of Investigations, where he was responsible for all investigations in nine southern states. He also served as the regional inspector from 1992 to 1999 for the IRS Inspection Service and was responsible for internal security and internal audit activities in the southeast region of the U.S.

President Bush honored Byrd for Outstanding Community Service Volunteer Work in a White House ceremony, and he was recognized for teaching ethics in high schools in Chicago and Washington, D.C.

Byrd, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville, received the university's Outstanding Alumnus Award, an award given to alumni who have made a significant impact in the government or private industry.
